Medical / Laboratory Drop Box
Gauging Systems Inc. (GSI) introduces a remote notification system for the collection of medical laboratory samples. The medical drop box follows GSI’s existing drop box (U.S. and international) patents for remote notification of deposits or pick-up’s.
For Hospitals: The purpose of the system is to manage, record, and report the deposit and pick-up of patient samples in an efficient and secure manner. The goal is to improve the quality of patient care by expediting sample processing and tracking.
For Laboratory Service Companies: The purpose of the system is to manage the collection process in the most efficient and cost effective manner. Reduction in expenses for sample collection (Labor, Gas, etc.) and collection points to optimize the process.
The Medical / Laboratory Drop Box provide remote notification of:
Deposits:
· Location of drop box (I.D.)
· Time and Date Stamp of deposited samples
· Sample depositor (Individual / Doctor I.D.)
· Patient (I.D.)
· Type of Sample(s)
· Number of Samples
Pickups:
· Location of drop box (I.D.)
· Time and date stamp of pickup
· Pickup recipient (I.D.)
· Optional: Sterilization and cleaning record
· Optional: Custom data requirements
Physically the Medical / Laboratory Drop Box housing is made of stainless steel and divided into two sections, an electronics compartment and a samples compartment.
The electronics compartment has a front panel with LCD display and keypad; optional magnetic and optical bar code scanners are available. The electronics compartment also houses the CPU board, communications board, power supplies, and optional electronics. The electronics compartment is only accessible by the key lock. Communication methods include: Modem, Cellular, Radio (WIFI, Blue Tooth, Zigbee, etc.), LAN, etc.
The sample compartment is sized to meet the volume of potential samples; the number of shelves and dividers is optional. The sample compartment is accessible through key pad entry and correct permissive. The LCD display will prompt the user to complete information, once the information is entered and validated; the CPU board activates a solenoid to open the sample compartment door, allowing either the deposit or pickup of samples. Once the door is closed, the solenoid is activated to lock the door. A maintenance key lock is also supplied to bypass the electronics should a power or communications failure occur.
Software and preconfigured computer systems are available for the collection of data from one or hundreds of Drop Boxes. The software includes drivers to communicate with the drop box, check permissive, record the deposit / pickup data, and optional software (sample process tracking, drop box maintenance, drop box usage, etc.). The software database is designed for easy integration with other management software systems.
GSI also manufactures Drop Boxes for Parcel carriers (notification of required pickup) , for Schools (Project and Paper submission boxes), for Courts (Document submission boxes), and anywhere where remote notification of deposits and pickup (location, time and date stamp validation, etc.) is needed.
